Patent counsel with a technical foundation.

Patent prosecution and litigation for software, mechanical systems, and energy technologies.

Understanding an invention starts with understanding the technology. Before becoming a lawyer, Matt Miller worked as a software engineer. He is also a named co-inventor on U.S. patents in image processing and video surveillance.

From application to enforcement

Matt is a registered patent attorney who prosecutes applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His experience includes computer software, mechanical systems, and oil-and-gas exploration and production technologies.

His practice also includes patent litigation in federal court and proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. That experience brings a perspective on disputes to the work of developing and protecting a patent portfolio.

Start with the technology and the business

A useful conversation begins with what your invention does, how it differs from existing approaches, and what your business wants to accomplish. An inquiry does not create an attorney-client relationship. Please do not send confidential information unless you have already signed paperwork to engage Kean Miller to represent you.
